Overview

Mooneem is a local-first personal finance app. All your financial data — accounts, transactions, and spending history — is stored exclusively on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal or financial data on our servers.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data.

Mooneem does not require an account, does not track usage, and does not send any of your financial information off your device.

Data Stored on Your Device

All data you enter or import into Mooneem is stored locally in a SQLite database on your iPhone. This includes:

• Account names and balances

• Imported bank transactions

• Spending categories and merchant labels

• Balance history

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export a backup file using the in-app backup feature.

Exchange Rates

Mooneem fetches currency exchange rates from the Frankfurter API, a free service backed by the European Central Bank. These requests contain no personal information — only a request for exchange rate data (e.g. GBP to USD). No financial data from your device is sent.

Backups

If you use the Export Backup feature, a .mooneem file containing your data is saved to your device or shared via the iOS share sheet. This file is under your full control. We do not receive or store it.

iCloud & Device Backups

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your Mooneem data may be included in your standard iOS device backup as part of normal iOS behaviour. This is managed entirely by Apple and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Services

Mooneem uses no analytics, advertising, or crash reporting SDKs. The only external network request made by the app is to the Frankfurter API for exchange rates (see above).

Children's Privacy

Mooneem does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
